Expression of inflammatory markers and analysis of liver function. Relative mRNA expression of genes involved in inflammation and recruitment of inflammatory cells was analyzed by qPCR and showed age-dependent changes in the expression of a S100a8, b S100a9, c Tnfa, and d Hmgb1 in Glmp gt/gt liver (n = 4, *p < 0.05, **p < 0.01, ***p < 0.005 vs. WT). Values are presented as mean ± s.e.m. Blood serum was collected from wild-type (WT) and Glmp gt/gt mice at 3.5, 6, and 12 months of age. Serum concentrations of e alanine transaminase [29], f aspartate transaminase (AST), g bile acids, and h albumin were analyzed (n = 5–18, *p < 0.05, **p < 0.01, ***p < 0.005 vs. WT).
